Position: WCA Technical Director
Reports to: WCA Board
- Responsibilies
- Develop and maintain racing
officials program
- Conduct clinics for new
officials
- Create a program to attract
and retain officials
- Provide mentoring to officials
- Assign officials to events
- Oversee rider upgrades (in
conjunction with Gary Achterberg)
- Evaluate rider resumes
- Submit proper upgrade forms
to USAC
- Assist race organizers/promoters
with event planning
- Review race plans for compliance
with WCA standards (i.e., wca logo on flyer, proper notification,
rider considerations)
- Referrals to experienced
organizers
- Review courses and schedule
of races for consistency with other events (ie. length of events,
timing, pay outs, etc)
- Tabulate and post points for
Wisconsin Cup competition
- Other tasks as the Board may
deem appropriate
Position goal
Primary goal of the WCA Technical Position is to improve the racing venues
in Wisconsin. Specifically, the tasks outlined above but in general, the
position is intended to supply continuity and consistency from event to
event and to communicate to the board on issues and opportunities that
exist within the racing culture of Wisconsin. The WCA Technical Director
will be the eyes and ears of the riders and provide input into the ongoing
improvement of WCAs basic operating structure.
