PCW Cyclocross Race:
A Wrapup from the Promoter
PCW's
Sheboygan Falls Cyclocross Race
November 21, 2004
Well, that put the cap onto
the year of cyclocross racing in Wisconsin. I wanted to congratulate all
the riders in their accomplishments for the year along with the day’s
event. C Men - Jack Hirt, Casy Masterson and Damon Rinard lead the field
in for the Bike n Ski awards. Jr's had the Brothers Brandt 1 & 2 with
Matt taking the battle and Kip Spaude on their wheel for 3rd. C Women
had the home town girl Anner Hildebrand lead in Katie Studdendick and
Brittany Nigh. B Men started the money fight, and the Brazen Dropout rider
Mark Harm took the win with Brian Halusan (Alan) and Matt Brandt in tow.
40+ - Dag Selander (Alan), Ken Hines (Cannonade Midwest) followed by Geoff
Feneloh did battle to the end. Now A-Women had Rebecca Cleveland (Bike
Hub) continue her strong showing by winning A women, and calling this
class "A" women was fitting today. Need to get a few more ladies
to move up and fight for the cash, and take note, Rebecca took out some
aggression in the A – Men’s event too… Last race of
the day, Brian Matter continued the PCW winning % by taking the day’s
event; cyclocross specialist Andrew Hargarten (Hampshire) took 2nd, and
local rider Mike (Kooch) Spiro, riding his 1988 Bridgestone winter beater
that has more rust than iron on it, took 3rd. 30+ had a strong running
field with Paul Roltgell (Brazen Dropouts) with teammate Scott Topel 2nd
and Bruce Breitrick taking 3rd.
I would like to thank everyone
for coming to race and helping PCW Cycling send two riders to Portland
for the National Championship. I would also like to thank: Andrew Hargarten
and Yellow Jersey for the use of the barriers, the City of Sheboygan Falls
and the City Council that approved a race event, USAC and WCA officials
and staff for their support during the day, my trusty crew of PCW and
the Fat Kats—without you guys, we would never be able to rip 4 races
out a year, and the Sheboygan Falls Jaycees for the great support and
food.
Now the big thanks goes out
to all the riders that donated to the rider fund. Noteworthy were the
key donations from the 30+ guys and the USCF officials. Without your generosity
the race would not have been able to support our goal of sending our two
riders to the event on December 5th. Keep on top of your funding support
by checking PCWCYCLING.ORG. If the year’s results continue, we should
be able to pop a top placing.
Thank you all and see you
in 2005.
