20Th Year of Cam-Rock CX: Wisconsin’s Longest Running Cyclocross Event

October 17, 2004

Cool, sunny weather and beautiful Fall Foliage greeted 130+ racers for the 20th Anniversary of the Cam-Rock Cyclocross Race. The event held at Cam-Rock Park, in Cambridge (hosted by the Brazen Dropouts and Midwest Masters Cycle Clubs and Cronometro Bicycles), has been a mainstay on the Wisconsin Cyclocross Scene, since it’s inception in 1984.

Event organizers, Paul Roltgen and Travis Goodlund, put some new twists on the ski trails of Cam-Rock Park this year, with a huge mulch pile barrier, off camber descent, and some “scary fast” corners. The dry conditions helped racers turn in some super-fast lap times.

Huge turnout in the C, Juniors, B and 40+ fields, meant everyone faced some stiff competition throughout the day.

With 3 races complete and 5 to go in the WCA Cyclocross Series, some serious Series Points battles are heating up in all categories. Check the Cyclocross Section of the WCA website for race results and series points rankings.

Thanks for coming out and see ya’ll next week at Lapham Peak.
